Pune : Mumbai’s Team R Factor 6024 has qualified for the FRC World Championship in Houston after winning two prestigious awards in the USA.
Mumbai-based robotics team Team R Factor 6024 has won recognition at the First Robotics Challenge (FRC) held in March in the USA and has qualified for the World Championship to be held in Houston, USA, from April 16-19. The team was comprised of students from eight schools in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune. The students programmed, assembled, and designed their robots independently, without any external help.
The group of 19 students from class 8 through class 12 worked under the guidance of mentors Nilesh Shah and Parul Shah at Mind Factory in Mumbai. Their robot is named “Goldfish.” The team members include Samridhi Swarup, Rinaesa Dedhia, Prapti Doshi, Ridhan Dedhia, Saksham Gupta, Rachit Jain, and Arjun Vashistha from the Oberoi International School in Mumbai.

Team R Factor 6024 earned the ‘2025 Imagery Award at the FIRST Long Island Regional and the ‘2025 Engineering Inspiration Award at the Phantom Lakes Regional. The Imagery Award acknowledges engineering and visual design, and the Engineering Inspiration Award acknowledges effort in advancing interest in engineering in the community. These awards were earned in competition with teams from the USA, Mexico, and Turkey.
Being the first Indian team at the FRC, Team 6024 strives to establish a foundation for FIRST, a non-profit that stands for “For Inspiration & Research of Science & Technology”. The team is celebrating 10 years in the FIRST program and has done outreach, taught robotic classes to underprivileged students, hosted the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) in Pune this year, and showcased their concepts in several sessions.
