IIT Delhi Hits 3-Year High with Over 850 Undergraduate Placement Offers

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has achieved a major milestone in its 2024-25 placement season, with over 850 unique undergraduate job offers — the highest in the past three years. This marks a significant rise from 781 offers last year, and continues to reaffirm the institute’s standing as one of India’s top engineering campuses.
This year’s placement drive saw enthusiastic participation from companies across the globe, with more than 40 international offers coming in from countries including the USA, UK, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the Netherlands, and UAE. The global exposure for students is expanding, and so are the opportunities.
Among the major recruiters offering double-digit placements were tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, and Texas Instruments. In the finance and analytics space, firms like PayU, Squarepoint Capital, and BCG played a key role, while Meesho and BlueStone stood out in the lifestyle and e-commerce sectors. Interestingly, several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) including IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, and Petronet LNG also offered notable roles, highlighting a healthy blend of private and public sector opportunities.
Alongside the traditional placement routes, IIT Delhi continues to witness a shift in student preferences. An exit survey conducted by the institute revealed that 30% of the graduating class opted for alternate career paths — with 7% pursuing entrepreneurship, 6% going for higher studies, and a sizable 17% preparing for competitive exams such as the civil or engineering services.
Speaking on the success of this placement season, Prof. Naresh Varma Datla, Head of the Office of Career Services at IIT Delhi, said, “We got off to a great start, and the momentum has remained strong. Our goal is to continuously widen the spectrum of recruiters and roles to align with the students’ interests and evolving career aspirations.”
With this momentum, IIT Delhi not only reinforces its academic excellence but also its role in nurturing dynamic, job-ready graduates capable of excelling in diverse domains.
