Pune : Teeth are among the most vital parts of the human body, directly connected to the brain. Hence, dental surgeries require utmost precision and care. Now, taking a monumental leap, robotic technology has been introduced into dental surgery. Bharati Vidyapeeth Dental College, Pune, in collaboration with Lupin Dental, France, has successfully completed the world’s first clinical trial on veneers using robotic arms. Dr. Asmita Jagtap, Executive Director of Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical Foundation, announced this significant achievement, marking a historic milestone in the field of dentistry.
The integration of robotic technology has enhanced patient care and treatment outcomes in dental procedures. This advancement signifies a major leap in dentistry, with cutting-edge technologies like lasers, microscopes, CAD/CAM systems, and scanners now available. Treatments at Bharati Hospital not only include tooth extraction and implantation but also address crooked teeth, gum diseases, and oral health of the tongue, palate, lips, and cheeks — bringing tangible benefits to patients, explained Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar, Principal of Bharati Vidyapeeth Dental College.
Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar further stated, “We are thrilled to have successfully completed this project. Our collaboration with Lupin Dental has not only enhanced our expertise in dental robotics but also strengthened our institution’s standing as a pioneer in innovative dental education and research.”

Other key contributors to the successful project included Dr. Arundhati Pawar (Director, Health Sciences Office), Dr. Santosh Jadhav, Dr. Pankaj Kadam, Dr. Yogesh Khadatre, Dr. Sara Mariam (Clinical Research Coordinator), Dr. Vikrant Sane, and Dr. Amod Patankar (Facility Management), along with Laxmikant Khanolkar, CEO (Indical), and Dr. Manisha Jadhav (Indical).
