New Delhi: In the wake of last year’s NEET UG 2024 paper leak controversy, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a series of unprecedented security measures to ensure a fair and transparent conduct of NEET UG 2025, scheduled for May 4. With the trust of lakhs of medical aspirants at stake, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to safeguard the integrity of one of India’s most important entrance examinations.
This year, candidates appearing for NEET UG will face multi-layered frisking at examination centers, with district police teams directly involved in the process. All confidential materials, including question papers and OMR sheets, will be transported under strict police escort to avoid any unauthorized access.
In a significant move, the NTA has decided that NEET UG 2025 will be conducted only at government institutions such as Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and government colleges. By restricting the exam centers to government-run premises, the authorities aim to minimize security risks associated with private centers.
Adding to the security arrangements, senior officials, including District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police, will personally inspect examination centers to ensure complete compliance with the new guidelines. Each center will also have a duty magistrate on-site to oversee operations during the exam.
For the first time, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a key role in surveillance. Real-time CCTV footage from exam centers will be monitored using AI tools to instantly detect any suspicious movements or activities, allowing for immediate action if necessary.
Additionally, the NTA has launched a candidate reporting platform, where students can confidentially report any suspicious activities — such as websites, individuals, or coaching centers falsely claiming access to NEET exam content. This platform will accept complaints until 5:00 PM on the day of the exam.
NEET UG 2025 will be held in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST across more than 5,000 centers in 552 cities within India and 14 cities abroad.
Through these sweeping changes, the NTA aims to rebuild the credibility of the exam process and provide a level playing field for every aspirant. With enhanced vigilance, strict protocols, and the integration of technology, NEET UG 2025 promises to set a new benchmark for examination security in India.
