Nagpur : In a major step towards advancing forensic education and scientific research in Maharashtra, the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) is all set to establish a sub-center in Nagpur. The groundbreaking ceremony for this landmark project is scheduled for the end of May 2025, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of specialized higher education in the state.
The proposal, recently approved by the Maharashtra cabinet, allocates 20.33 hectares of land for the sub-center. This move is expected to bolster the state’s capabilities in forensic science, criminology, and related fields by creating a dedicated hub for cutting-edge education, training, and research infrastructure.
Once operational, the Nagpur sub-center will cater to a wide range of academic programs and serve as a pivotal institution for law enforcement training, cybercrime investigation, and legal forensics, not just in Maharashtra but across central India.
The establishment of this campus aligns with the broader vision of strengthening India’s forensic and criminal justice system by nurturing skilled professionals and researchers equipped with advanced scientific tools and knowledge.
With construction beginning shortly, the sub-center is expected to become a vital part of India’s growing network of forensic science institutions.
