IOCL Apprentice Recruitment 2025 Indian Oil Announces Over 1000 Vacancies Across Refineries

New Delhi: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a Government of India undertaking and one of the largest commercial enterprises in the country, has released a massive recruitment notification for the engagement of apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 (as amended). The recruitment drive is being conducted across nine of its major refineries as part of the corporation’s national skill-building initiative.

This year’s apprentice engagement spans refineries at Guwahati, Barauni, Gujarat, Haldia, Mathura, Panipat (PRPC), Digboi, Bongaigaon, and Paradip. Through this initiative, IOCL aims to offer hands-on training and exposure to students who have completed relevant qualifications, while strengthening the skilled workforce of the nation.

Vacancies have been announced for multiple disciplines such as Chemical, Mechanical, and Fitter trades, and will be filled under both Trade Apprentice and Technician Apprentice categories. The training period for most trades will be 12 months, while select mechanical technician roles will require 24 months of training.

For the Trade Apprentice – Chemical discipline, candidates must possess a 3-year B.Sc. degree with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Industrial Chemistry. In the Fitter trade, candidates must have passed Matriculation along with a 2-year ITI certification in the Fitter stream. For Technician Apprentice – Chemical, a 3-year diploma in Chemical or Petrochemical Engineering is required, while Technician Apprentice – Mechanical positions require a 3-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

The number of seats varies across refineries, with IOCL offering approximately:

49 seats in Guwahati,

104 in Barauni,

97 in Gujarat,

178 in Haldia,

96 in Mathura,

As per government norms, reservations will be applicable for candidates from SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS, and PwBD categories, with distribution varying by location.

The recruitment provides an excellent opportunity for science graduates and diploma holders to receive industry-level training in one of India’s premier energy corporations. Selected apprentices will also receive monthly stipends as per official guidelines.
