Mumbai: The State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest public sector bank, has officially opened applications for the recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO) for the year 2025–26. Through its latest notification (Advertisement No. CRPD/PO/2025-26/04), SBI has invited online applications from eligible Indian citizens for 541 vacancies. The online registration and fee payment process began on June 24, 2025 and will continue until July 14, 2025.
As per the notification issued by the Central Recruitment & Promotion Department, Mumbai, the selected candidates will be appointed as Probationary Officers and may be posted anywhere across India. Interested candidates can apply through the official SBI careers portal: https://bank.sbi/web/careers/current-openings. Applicants are advised to carefully read the detailed notification before submitting their forms.
The recruitment drive includes 500 regular vacancies and 41 backlog vacancies, bringing the total to 541. Out of these, 80 posts are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), 73 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 135 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 50 for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and 203 for the Unreserved (UR) category. Additionally, there are 20 seats reserved horizontally for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), including 5 seats each for visual, hearing, locomotor, and multiple disabilities.
SBI has also announced the tentative schedule for the multi-stage recruitment process. Preliminary exam call letters will be available by the third or fourth week of July 2025, followed by the Preliminary Examination in July/August. Results of the prelims will be declared in August/September, and successful candidates will move on to the Mains Examination in September. The final selection phase, including psychometric tests, interviews, and group exercises, is scheduled between October and November 2025, with the final result expected in November/December.
To be eligible, candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as on April 1, 2025, i.e., born between April 2, 1995 and April 1, 2004 (both dates inclusive). Reserved category applicants are eligible for age relaxations—3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST, and up to 15 years for PwBD candidates. Ex-servicemen and commissioned officers are also eligible for a 5-year relaxation.
With its competitive pay structure, career growth opportunities, and national-level exposure, the SBI PO exam remains one of the most sought-after exams among banking aspirants in India. As the application window is short and the competition intense, candidates are urged to apply well before the deadline and begin their preparation in earnest.
