Mumbai : The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced additional entrance exams on July 19 and 20 for various undergraduate professional courses and integrated teacher training programs, following increasing demand from students, parents, and educational institutions.
The additional exams will cater to admissions in BBA, BCA, BBM, and BMS programs, which are widely popular among students seeking careers in business administration and information technology. As per the CET Cell, over 40,654 students have registered for this round, which is being conducted after a relatively low turnout in the previous CET held on April 29 and 30. In that attempt, out of over 1.08 lakh available seats across the state, only 72,259 students registered, and 61,666 appeared for the exam.
To ensure that no seat goes vacant and to give aspirants a second opportunity, the Higher and Technical Education Department approved the decision to conduct this second CET, offering renewed hope to thousands of students who either missed the deadline or were unable to apply earlier.
Simultaneously, the CET Cell has also scheduled the entrance exam for the Integrated BA/BSc-B.Ed course on July 20, after receiving a go-ahead from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to reinstate the program for this academic year. The course had earlier been withdrawn to make way for the new Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), a four-year course proposed under the New Education Policy.
However, following feedback from stakeholders and implementation challenges, NCTE permitted the continuation of the earlier BA/BSc-B.Ed integrated model for one more year. As a result, the CET Cell reopened registrations and has received 905 applications for the entrance test scheduled on July 20.
These CETs are crucial for thousands of students seeking entry into professional undergraduate programs with direct career applicability or those aspiring to become future educators.
