Pune : The Higher and Technical Education Department of Maharashtra has released a revised fee structure for various diploma and certificate courses offered by private aided art institutions across the state. A total of 12 art-related courses, including the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and the Diploma in Applied Art, will now see an increase in fees.
These courses are conducted under the Directorate of Art in private aided institutions, which receive a percentage-based government grant for staff salaries. These institutions had long been demanding 100% salary grants, and to cover the remaining 10% shortfall, a revision in student fees was proposed.
Courses with Revised Fees Include:
Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
Art Teacher Diploma
Diploma in Drawing and Painting
Diploma in Applied Art
Diploma in Sculpture and Modelling
Interior Decoration under Art and Handicrafts
Diploma in Textile Design
Diploma in Weaving
Diploma in Pottery
Diploma in Metal Work
Diploma in Art Education
Art Master Certificate
The Bharatiya Kala Prasarak Mandal in Pune had submitted a formal petition to the Bombay High Court, requesting permission to revise the fee structure to offset the financial shortfall in grants. The High Court, during its hearing on April 25, 2025, directed the state to take a decision on the proposed fee hike by July 15, 2025.
Taking this into consideration, a committee was formed at the Directorate level to review and recommend changes. Based on the committee’s report, the Higher and Technical Education Department has officially issued a notification announcing the revised fees via ordinance.
As per the new directive, the revised fee for each course has been set at ₹15,400.
