Pune : This year, the winter session exams of polytechnic courses, which have seen record admissions across the state, have begun. At the same time, the elections being held in various local bodies across the state will affect these exams. Due to these elections to be held across the state on December 2, the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) has decided to postpone the December 1 and 2 polytechnic exams. Now these papers will be held on December 4 and 5.
More than one lakh students took admission in polytechnic colleges this year after class 10. The number of students taking admission for polytechnics has increased due to initiatives like ‘School Connect’ in the last few years. The winter session exams of polytechnics have also started from the second week of November.
Municipal council, nagar panchayat, and municipal elections have been announced in the state on December 2. Keeping these elections in mind, it is not possible to conduct exams on three days, the day before the election, the day of actual voting, and the day after that. According to the polytechnic schedule, the exam was scheduled for December 1 and 2. But now considering the elections, MSBTE has postponed the exam to be held on this day.

According to a statement issued by MSBTE, the paper that was earlier scheduled for December 1 will be held on December 4, while the exam on December 2 will be held on December 5. MSBTE Secretary Umesh Nagdeve has appealed to students to take note of this change and plan accordingly. This change will be implemented in the jurisdiction of all three divisional offices of MSBTE, including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, i.e. across the state.
