Mumbai : In a relief to thousands of aspiring students across Maharashtra, the State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell) has extended the deadline for the registration and application process for CAP Round admissions to Engineering (B.E/B.Tech) and MBA courses. The new deadline is now July 11, 2025, giving students an additional three days to complete their application and document submission online.
The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for Engineering courses had initially started on June 28 and was scheduled to conclude on July 8. However, with a large number of students still in the process of completing their applications, the CET Cell decided to extend the registration window to ensure wider participation and avoid last-minute panic.
Engineering Admissions: A Snapshot
This year, the MHT CET 2025 examination for Engineering and Technology streams saw a record participation of 4,22,663 students across Maharashtra. As per CET Cell data, around 2 lakh students have registered so far for B.E/B.Tech admissions, but only 1.7 lakh applications have been fully submitted and confirmed.
With the extended deadline, officials expect a significant rise in the number of final submissions as students from remote areas, and those facing documentation or payment delays, now have a final chance to complete the process.
Last Year vs This Year: Engineering Admission Data
Category 2024-25 Intake 2023-24 Intake
Total Registrations 2,00,000+ (ongoing) 1,92,398
Total Available Seats ~1,80,000 (expected) 1,80,170
Final Admissions Taken TBA (in process) 1,49,078
The increase in MHT CET participation this year indicates a higher demand for engineering education in Maharashtra. However, CET Cell officials have emphasized the importance of completing the form filling, fee payment, and document upload before the new deadline, warning that no further extensions may be granted.
MBA Admissions Also Extended
In addition to engineering, the CET Cell has also extended the MBA admission registration deadline till July 11. So far, 59,554 students have registered for MBA courses in Maharashtra, out of which 33,338 have completed the full application process.
Like the engineering stream, MBA admissions are also seeing growing interest this year, and the extension is aimed at helping students who may have faced challenges with documentation or portal access.

Expert Advice
With rising competition and limited seats, students must act quickly and ensure all entries are correct, especially those claiming reservations (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), as incorrect or missing documentation can disqualify them from the merit list.
Moreover, those looking for top-tier engineering colleges in Maharashtra — such as COEP Pune, VJTI Mumbai, PICT Pune, and Walchand Sangli — should pay attention to cutoff trends from last year and prepare their preferences wisely for the option form filling stage that follows CAP registration.
Next Steps After July 11
Once the registration window closes:
The CET Cell will release the Provisional Merit List
Students will be given time for grievances and corrections
Then, the Final Merit List and CAP Round-I seat allotment will be declared
The full admission schedule will be updated on the CET Cell portal shortly after July 11.
