Pune: The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE), Pune has revised the schedule for the 2026 Class 5 and Class 8 scholarship examinations. Originally planned for 8 February 2026, the exams will now be conducted across the state on 22 February 2026.
The rescheduling comes after the Council received multiple requests from teachers, as the earlier date coincided with the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on the same day. Since a large number of primary and secondary teachers in Maharashtra are set to appear for the CTET, stakeholders urged the Council to avoid the clash.
Responding to these concerns, MSCE has announced the new date and advised students preparing for the scholarship exam to adjust their study timetables accordingly.
MSCE Commissioner Anuradha Oak has issued an appeal to students, parents, schools and examination centres to carefully note the revised schedule and make the necessary arrangements.
The Scholarship Examination is conducted annually by the Maharashtra State Education Department to identify and support meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds. Based on their performance, eligible students receive financial aid to continue their education. In Maharashtra, these scholarship exams are held for students of Classes 4 and 8, while several national-level scholarships, including the National Scholarship Examination, are also available to students across the country.
