JEE Main 2025 Session 2: Students Raise Concerns Over Percentile Discrepancies

New Delhi: The announcement of JEE Main 2025 Session 2 results has sparked widespread concern among students and educators, with many questioning the accuracy of the percentile scores. Several candidates took to social media to express confusion and dissatisfaction, citing discrepancies where higher raw scores resulted in lower percentiles, and in some cases, lower raw scores fetched higher percentiles.

Students have also reported instances of blank or incorrectly recorded response sheets, further amplifying concerns about the evaluation process. A major point of contention remains the normalization procedure adopted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which adjusts raw scores to account for varying difficulty levels across different shifts.

In response to the growing outcry, the NTA issued a statement assuring candidates that all objections would be reviewed carefully. They emphasized their commitment to a transparent and fair evaluation process, adding that final results would be based on verified answer keys after considering all valid objections.

Despite the NTA’s clarification, the controversy has reignited a larger debate over the effectiveness and transparency of normalization in competitive exams like JEE Main. While normalization aims to maintain fairness across multiple sessions, many students and parents have called for a re-evaluation of the system, demanding clearer explanations of how scores are converted into percentiles.

As of now, students are advised to monitor official NTA announcements for updates and to submit any formal grievances through the prescribed channels. With stakes so high for engineering aspirants, the credibility of the evaluation process remains under sharp focus.
