Mumbai : The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), through its Centre for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility (CECSR), has opened applications for various field-based positions as part of an assessment study commissioned by Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). The project focuses on surveying and valuating household assets in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, aiming to assess families likely to be impacted by upcoming coal mining operations.
Project Overview
The CECSR at TISS has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive survey in Singrauli to evaluate physical assets, understand land usage, and measure the socioeconomic impact of displacement due to coal mining. The project is part of NCL’s effort to integrate responsible mining with socially informed planning. This engagement will last for four months, with applicants expected to be stationed in Singrauli throughout the duration.

Eligibility for Field Investigators/Interns
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Science, or Engineering (Postgraduates preferred)
Fluent in Hindi (speaking and writing)
Comfortable with household and community surveys
Ability to evaluate land and property assets
Strong understanding of rural land markets is an advantage
Key Responsibilities
Conduct structured surveys and asset documentation in the field
Work under the guidance of the NCL Team Leader to identify and geotag households using latitude and longitude coordinates
Ensure accurate data collection, entry, and submission
