The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is all set to conduct a large-scale recruitment drive for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP). According to the information shared by the Railway Board, the official notification for this recruitment drive will soon be released on RRB’s official website. While the official notification is awaited, the eligibility criteria for the Assistant Loco Pilot post are expected to remain the same as those prescribed in the previous recruitment cycle. Typically, candidates who have passed the 10th standard (Matriculation) along with an ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certification in a relevant trade, or those who have completed 10th plus a three-year diploma in a related technical field, are considered eligible to apply. The age limit in the past recruitment was set between 18 and 30 years, with relaxations applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government norms.
The role of an Assistant Loco Pilot is crucial within the railway system. ALPs assist the train driver (Loco Pilot) in operating trains safely and efficiently, and they are trained to handle technical operations, monitor equipment, and take charge in case of emergencies.
